Long Due Update

The mission team from Edmond came on June 6th. We had VBS for 3 days with about 120-125 kids each day. On the last day we gave away 143 care packages to the kids with coloring books, notebooks, pens, pencils, and other school goodies. It was a huge success! On Friday we had a teachers seminar. We had 16 ladies from surrounding congregations attend, and they received materials and ideas to take back to their congregations. Saturday we had a leadership seminar. We had over 45 men from 14 congregations attend and they learned about organization and much more. Sunday we had record breaking attendance of 202! Even without the 16 members of the mission team it still would have been record breaking! After services we had a congregational meal and a time of fellowship. We had two work projects. We put in a playground for the kids of the church and the community. We also built a class for the youth to meet in. Unlike their old location, this has a concrete floor and 4 walls! Fancy, fancy. On Thursday and Friday while the kids were in VBS, we held a Christian Family seminar for the members of the congregation. Wow. It’s hard to believe we were able to do so much in just one week. But really it took lots of weeks of preparation. Our congregation was very encouraged and appreciative of all of the work.
Last Sunday we had two baptisms, both family members of new members. It is so great to see how new converts want to spread the news of salvation.
On a down note, everyone is sick. I mean everyone! It has started to rain, and I think that is causing it. Please pray for us that we can have the strength to fight off colds and be able to get all of our work done and attend services.
Well, I think that covers it all. I will work to get some pictures uploaded, but not today. =)
