As a child, David traveled to Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Cuba. Joe and Augustina now live in Wichita Falls, Texas, where David graduated from high school in 1999. After he graduated, he studied at the Brown Trail School of Preaching in Bedford, Texas. This is where he met his wife to be. After completing the two year program at Brown Trail, David went on to attend Oklahoma Christian University, and he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Missions in April of 2004. David graduated Cum Laude from Oklahoma Christian University.
David is the administrator of the farm. From long term goals to day to day decisions, David, with the help of several Nicaraguans experienced in coffee and farming, makes the coffee farm run. In the church, David helps with the preaching and teaching and is in charge of benevolence works.
Kimberly Romero
Birth Date: 2/21/82
I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. My parents are David and Alice Ferguson, who still live in Fort Worth. I graduated from Haltom High School in 2000 and then spent one year at the Brown Trail School of Preaching. From there I moved to Oklahoma City to attend Oklahoma Christian University where in December of 2004 I received my Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting and Vocational Ministry. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Oklahoma Christian and received the President’s Medal for maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
I am the accountant for the farm and the church. Nicaragua is a cash based society and receipts are only given if requested, so I ensure that spending is tracked and budgets are maintained. I also coordinate the children’s ministry and teach regularly in the women’s services.

We were married on May 4, 2002. We work together in the second half of the farm work – roasting, packaging and selling Heavenly Harvest Coffee to the States. We are supported by the Edmond Church of Christ.

About Nicaragua
Nicaragua is a beautiful country that is often said to resemble Hawaii. Carazo, where the farm is located, is up in a mountain range, which blesses it with a cooler climate of about 75° year round. Carazo has a distinct rainy season from June to November with heavy rain in October, and a dry season from December to May.
Nicaragua is known as the land of lakes and volcanoes. Lake Nicaragua is the largest lake in Central America, and is home to the world’s only freshwater sharks. In the Pacific area of the country, the most inhabited, there are 11 major volcanoes.
Nearly half of all Nicaraguans are under 15, and more than a quarter are between the ages of 15 and 29. Only a quarter of the population is over 30.
